An elderly man whom Prince George’s County paramedics mistakenly deemed dead on Friday afternoon died in the hospital late Saturday night.
Two paramedics declared George Waters, 70, dead upon arrival around noon Friday after responding to a call about a possible deceased person at an apartment building in Glenarden.
Nearly two hours later, Waters began showing signs of life and paramedics were called back to the scene. Waters’ family had already called family members with the news of his passing.
The paramedics transported Waters to Prince George’s Medical Center, where he died late Saturday.
The hospital would not reveal the details of Waters’ death, but his daughter, Laverne Waters, said he had an infection.
The paramedics who mistakenly left Waters for dead are on “limited public status,” which prohibits them from responding to emergency calls, emergency medical services spokesman Mark Brady said.
