Scarborough: Trump has to change ‘fast’ to earn my vote

If Donald Trump doesn’t change his rhetoric before the general election, one of his biggest fans in the media refuses to vote for him.

“I’ve got to say, I was surprised and disappointed … that yesterday, he stuck by the Muslim ban,” MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough said of the presumptive Republican nominee on Thursday morning.

“That’s a loser. It’s a loser with the majority of Americans. And you’ve got Republicans like me. I just, I’m not going to vote for a guy like that,” he added.

Scarborough continued, “I’m never going to vote for a guy who says they are going to ban somebody because of the god they worship.”

The former Florida congressman, whose glowing coverage of Trump has repeatedly attracted scrutiny, also said the GOP front-runner is likely to lose in November if he doesn’t turn his favorability ratings around among key demographics before August.

“If he goes into August with these numbers, I will say in August he’s going to lose big time,” Scarborough said. “The window, while we have six months, he’s got about a two-month window to start turning this stuff around quickly or he will lose.”

“So if they want to win, they better be all hands on deck right now. This is not going to be a slow turn,” he added, referring to Trump’s campaign team.

Trump, who’s polling 7 percentage points behind Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton in the latest RealClearPolitics average of general election matchup polls, will travel to West Virginia on Thursday for his first campaign rally as the de facto nominee.
