Prince George’s County police are looking for the woman who used her children in a ruse to rob an 84-year-old woman. Police said Thursday that a warrant had been obtained for 48-year-old Linda McCorkle of Chillum in the Jan. 12 robbery. Police allege that McCorkle, with her three children, approached the elderly woman and said she needed help cashing a check.
The woman agreed to drive McCorkle to a bank; once the two were in a car, McCorkle implied she had a gun and would shoot if the woman didn’t withdraw a large amount of money. The elderly woman withdrew money and gave it to McCorkle, police said.
Police said McCorkle was identified as a suspect through a Crime Solvers tip and bank surveillance video.
