Chris Christie booed by students for backing Dallas Cowboys

Gov. Chris Christie elicited boos from students at an elementary school in New Jersey on Tuesday after he explained that he was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys — not the New York Jets or Giants.

Christie admitted that it probably wasn’t a very popular answer in New Jersey — explaining that it always made his political advisors nervous.

His excuse was that while he was growing up he was always a fan of Cowboy’s quarterback Roger Staubach – even though is Dad was a fan of the Giants.

“The Giants and the Jets pretty much stunk when I was a kid, and my father was a Giants fan and I used to remember watching him when I was, you know, 8, 9 years old.”

Christie explained that his Dad would yell at the TV set during Giants games which made him want to root for a good team.

“I used to think to myself, why would you root for a team that makes you angry?” he said. “So I decided not to and the Cowboys were real good then and I liked Roger Staubach.”

Christie added that he was a fan of the New York Mets even though “they stink,” and was also a fan of the New York Knicks.
