A D.C. pub is offering patrons a free round of drinks every time President Trump tweets during former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony Thursday morning.
A post on Union Pub’s Facebook page says they will open at 9:30 a.m. and “this ‘special’ will run til Comey’s testimony is over, or 4pm, whichever comes first.”
Union Pub is one of many bars set to open early Thursday morning across America for Comey’s much-hyped testimony. The hearing is set to start at 10 a.m. on Thursday and will be the first time he speaks before Congress since Trump fired him as FBI director in May.
He is expected to testify about the Russia investigation, and in particular that Trump asked him to halt his investigation into former national security advisor Michael Flynn.
Washington Post reporter Robert Costa tweeted on Wednesday that he heard from White House sources that Trump may “live tweet [during the testimony] if he feels the need to respond.”
The Hill noted that Trump will speak to the Freedom and Faith Coalition at the Omni Shoreham Hotel starting at 11:30 a.m., which would conflict with some of the testimony.
I’m told by two WH sources that Pres. Trump does not plan to put down Twitter on Thursday. May live tweet if he feels the need to respond.
