MIAMI (AP) — The Florida Highway Patrol says a Road Ranger is recovering after he was hit by a drunk driver on Interstate 95.
The crash happened Sunday in the northbound lanes of I-95 in Miami.
Spokesman Joe Sanchez told The Miami Herald (http://hrld.us/1uzwVev ) troopers were in the area handling several accidents due to bad weather when the ranger was injured. He is a member of the crews that offer free roadside assistance on South Florida highways and was assisting troopers when he was struck.
Sanchez says the driver was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
The ranger was taken to Ryder Trauma Center.
