Transferring into the NCAA Tournament

Ohio University benefited from Kelvin Sampson being fired at Indiana, leading to Armon Bassett‘s eventual transfer. Think he’s made a difference? Georgetown surely will find out just what he’s capable of Thursday.

Three others, all big men, who have made a difference:

Derrick Caracter » He was a solid player for Louisville, but grades and other issues led to coach Rick Pitino saying he needed to be in a different place. To which UTEP says, “Thank you.” Caracter averages 13.8 points and 8.0 rebounds a game.

Wesley Johnson » Apparently, he tired of Iowa State and one day just decided to leave, without telling his coaches. Syracuse benefited, however, as Johnson was mentioned for a while as a national player of the year candidate. We’re sure the Cyclone fans are just thrilled.

Ben Allen » He was a bit player for Indiana under Sampson, but he’s a solid player for potential sleeper Saint Mary’s. Allen averages 10.8 points and 7.6 boards a game.
