Executive Chairman of Sinclair Broadcasting Group David Smith said print media “serves no real purpose,” and he doesn’t trust those outlets, according to emails sent to New York Magazine.
In the emails, which were sent in November but published for the first time Tuesday, Smith said print media is irrelevant and has “just no credibility.”
“I must tell that in all the 45 plus years I have been in the media business I have never seen a single article about us that is reflective of reality especially in today’s world with the shameful political environment and generally complete lack of integrity,” Smith said. “Facts and truth have been lost for a long time and likely to never return.”
Smith said print media is “so left wing” that it has become meaningless, causing it to “fade away.”
Sinclair Broadcasting owns and operates 193 television stations in 39 states and is many household local news networks across the U.S.
Recently the media company has come under fire for local news anchors reading the same scripted message on air about their commitment to report unbiased news and combating fake news reports.
President Trump has defended Sinclair Broadcasting, claiming other networks were worried about the competition from the company.
