When a racist customer showed the worst part of humanity by refusing to tip a waitress until her people “return the land,” social media stepped in and showed the best part of society by raising thousands of dollars, giving her the biggest tip of a lifetime.
The Daily Mail reported that 24-year old Ashleigh Schultz broke down in tears when professional race-baiter Ntokozo Qwabe refused to tip her because she was white.
Adding insult to injury, the race activist posted on Facebook Friday that the whole event made him “elated.”
“LOL wow unable to stop smiling because something so black, wonderful, & LIT just happened,” Qwabe wrote on his Facebook page.
He went on to write how he wrote how excited he was to see Schultz “burst into typical white tears” when she read his note that she wouldn’t receive a tip until white people returned the land.
“Moral of the story: the time has come when no white person will be absolved,” Qwabe continued. “We are tired of ‘not all white people’ and all other bullsh**. We are here and we want our land back.”
Ironically, Qwabe is a privileged Rhodes scholar at Oxford University who receives money from the Rhodes estate to study, while Schultz is a working class waitress paying her way through school and caring for ill mother.
Schultz’s story broke over social media and a GoFundMe page raised more than $5,500 for the millennial waitress in just three days from hundreds of small contributors.
That’s the redeeming quality of the internet. It shows how society can rise up to its worst elements of humanity.
