What was expected to be a moment of jubilation for American figure skater Ashley Wagner turned into anything but during the team event Saturday night.
The 22-year-old Wagner, whose inclusion on the American team’s roster last month was mired in controversy, appeared to have performed a clean routine and was all smiles as she waited to hear her scores.
And then, as Wagner’s surprisingly low scores were read, a new type of expression appeared on her face – disgust.
Wagner could even be caught mouthing the words “Bull s**t” at one point.
Not surprisingly, many other memes populated the world-wide web acknowledging her disappointment in Saturday night’s scores.
While Wagner’s score of 63.10 put her in fourth place in the competition, it did help the women’s figure skating team advance and win the bronze medal. She will now compete in the individual women’s competition starting Feb. 19.
“To score that low was very disappointing for me,” a more diplomatic Wagner told reporters later, according to the New York Daily News. “But honestly, this was more about me and my performance and proving to everyone I belong here.”
