Trump border wall gives Biden rare win

Give President Joe Biden credit for reading the writing on the wall.

Faced with growing and punishing criticism of his open border policies that have shipped millions of illegal immigrants into cities and towns around America, he recently changed course on building a border wall, and the public approves.

A large “Welcome to Mexico” sign hung over the Bridge of the Americas is visible as President Joe Biden tours the El Paso port of entry, Bridge of the Americas, a busy port of entry along the U.S.-Mexico border, in El Paso Texas, Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023.

In seizing on one of former President Donald Trump’s promises, Biden has found his bestselling policy, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports survey shared with Secrets.

The poll said 73% of likely voters support Biden’s decision to kick-start the border wall with money set aside by the Trump administration.

“The administration announced last week that because of ‘an acute and immediate need’ for a border wall it was waiving more than a dozen federal environmental laws that halted construction. The decision is approved by 86% of Republicans, 62% of Democrats and 74% of voters unaffiliated with either major party,” the survey analysis said.

Of course, in bowing to his foe’s policies, Biden proved that Trump was right on the wall.

Asked if “the Biden administration’s decision to allow border wall construction proves that Donald Trump was right about the need for a border wall,” 61% said yes.

The border crisis brought on by Biden’s policies is expected to shadow next year’s general election, as it did in 2016 when Trump’s chant of “Build the Wall” helped him end Hillary Clinton’s political career.

Rasmussen said 80% of likely voters expect immigration and the border to be important in the general election.
