Liberal actor Robert Redford, along with co-star Cate Blanchett, sat down for an interview with Uproxx about their current drama, The Truth, which dramatizes Dan Rather and the 2004 presidential election.
The interview didn’t merely focus on a presidential election from the past. In reporting on the interview, Mediaite points to a noteworthy answer where Redford has some choice words about Carly Fiorina.
The comments Jeb Bush made about the shooting at a community college in Oregon were mentioned for example, though unsurprisingly not in their full context.
Redford moved on from talking about Bush, to Trump, and then Fiorina. Emphasis is original:
Uproxx: How so?
Redford: I was trying to get support for Sundance from HP. And she came, so I had some dealings with her at that time and drew an impression, but she’s become even more extreme in the last few years. And now it’s getting revealed. There’s an article today that really takes apart what she’s saying and what’s she’s doing and what she claims, and it’s undoing all of it. And so I think you’re beginning to see the unraveling. And with Bush, it’s pretty clear what his story is and that’s beginning to be uncovered.
Redford did not expand further on what exactly the “dealings” with her involved, or what caused him to “dr[a]w an impression.” He didn’t even say why it is he thinks “she’s become even more extreme in the last few years.”
This is not to say that Redford never actually had contact with Fiorina. It does beg the question how much he actually has to go on, or if he’s just a celebrity using this interview as a way to get his liberal views out there.
