John Kasich’s team sent out an email late Wednesday telling supporters to donate to his campaign because second-ranked Ted Cruz has no path to winning 1,237 delegates before the July convention.
“Today was an important milestone in this primary. We’ve been saying it for weeks now but the media is finally acknowleding that Ted Cruz is mathematically eliminated from securing the nomination before the convention,” the fundraising pitch states.
The Ohio governor asked backers to chip in any amount to help reach its Friday goal of $100,000.
Donations will be directed to Get-Out-The-Vote initiatives in the five states whose primaries are scheduled for April 26: Pennsylvania, Maryland, Connecticut, Delaware and Rhode Island.
Kasich’s team also released a memo Wednesday telling members of the #NeverTrump movement how they can partner together to block GOP front-runner Donald Trump from reaching 1,237 delegates before the convention and locking up the nomination.
