President Trump argued that his poll numbers would be higher — if special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation had not been conducted.
“Without the ILLEGAL Witch Hunt, my poll numbers, especially because of our historically ‘great’ economy, would be at 65%,” Trump tweeted Wednesday morning. “Too bad! The greatest Hoax in American History.”

According to a recent poll from Quinnipiac University, 38% of Americans approve of Trump while 57% disapprove. The poll, which was conducted from May 16-20, also found that 54% of Americans will “definitely” not vote for him in the 2020 election.
Mueller’s Russia investigation lasted 22 months and found that there was no evidence members of the Trump campaign illegally colluded with the Kremlin. Mueller did not make a determination on obstruction of justice, but Attorney General William Barr said that there was not sufficient evidence of an obstruction crime.
Trump also accused Democrats, who want to investigate obstruction of justice issues further, of getting “zero” work done in Congress as they remain fixated on Mueller’s report.
“Everything the Democrats are asking me for is based on an illegally started investigation that failed for them, especially when the Mueller Report came back with a NO COLLUSION finding. Now they say Impeach President Trump, even though he did nothing wrong, while they ‘fish!’” Trump tweeted.

Trump’s morning rant also addressed topics including the border wall and claimed much of the wall is repairing “old and worthless barriers.”
