Speaker Paul Ryan indicated to reporters Wednesday he did not provide anonymous material for Bob Woodward’s damning new book about the Trump White House.
“I’ve known Bob a long time. I’ve not spoken to him for a few years, for the record,” Ryan told reporters.
Ryan said he has not seen Woodward’s new book, “Fear: Trump in the White House,” which is laden with anonymous sources who portray an unhinged president.
“Is it even out yet?” Ryan asked.
The White House has railed against the book, which among other things said chief of staff John Kelly called President Trump an “idiot.” White House staff has dismissed the book by saying it’s filled with quotes from anonymous sources, and Kelly released a statement saying he never called Trump an idiot.
On Wednesday morning, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Trump’s success as president so far shows that much of Woodward’s book can’t be true.
