Media personality Megyn Kelly warned that newly resigned CNN President Jeff Zucker needs to give a full explanation of the timing of his relationship with CNN’s executive vice president and chief marketing officer because “this is going to get ugly.”
Zucker resigned as CNN president Wednesday after admitting to an undisclosed consensual relationship with Allison Gollust.
During her SiriusXM the Megan Kelly Show Wednesday, Kelly questioned when their relationship began.
“If they are still misleading, they need to come clean,” Kelly said. “If he began this affair a long time ago, prior to promoting her to being an executive vice president of the company, this is going to get ugly. This is going to get ugly for him. This is going to get ugly for her, and for others at CNN because you’re really not allowed to do that without disclosing that you have a personal relationship with said person.”
Radar Online reporter Melissa Cronin appeared on Kelly’s show and alleged Zucker’s comment about his relationship with Gollust changing “in recent years” was not true.
“The world really needed to know about this,” Cronin said. “Just because it was an open secret in the media world didn’t mean that it was OK.”
Cronin said Gollust joined CNN in 2013 but that Zucker and Gollust worked together at NBC before that. She noted that Katie Couric “raised an eyebrow” over Zucker and Gollust’s relationship in her recent book.

“He should have had nothing to do with overseeing her or having her report to him if, in fact, they were lovers,” Kelly said.
Cronin said more details would likely come forward, raising greater implications.
“This is a huge mess,” Cronin said. “We are only seeing the beginning of what is going to become an even bigger scandal.”
