Rep. Cori Bush said if the protesters who stormed the Capitol building were black, they “would have been shot.”
“Had it been people who look like me, had it been the same amount of people, but had they been black and brown, we wouldn’t have made it up those steps,” Bush said Wednesday on MSNBC, adding that they “would have been shot.” “We wouldn’t have made it to be able to get into the door and bust windows and go put our feet up on the desks of Congress members.”
Supporters of President Trump stormed the Capitol on Wednesday as Congress certified the Electoral College victory of President-elect Joe Biden.
“It was white privilege, and it was the call of our president, and it was encouraged by our Republican colleagues,” Bush added.

Four people died Wednesday, including an Air Force veteran who was shot by law enforcement while she was in the Capitol building.
The mayhem sparked at least six resignations from the White House, including from first lady Melania Trump’s chief of staff Stephanie Grisham and Northern Ireland special envoy Mick Mulvaney.
