WATCH: Mueller can’t remember Ronald Reagan

Robert Mueller misstated which president appointed him as the U.S. attorney in Massachusetts after being asked during a House Judiciary Committee hearing.

The former special counsel stated he believed President George H. Bush had appointed him to the position.

Rep. Greg Stanton corrected Mueller and told him it was President Ronald Reagan who had put him in the position.

Mueller, 74, was appointed as the U.S. attorney for the District of Massachusetts in 1986 by Reagan. He served there until 1987.
