Video of BLM protesters chanting popular Iranian phrase ‘Death to America’ goes viral

A video of protesters chanting, “Death to America,” while marching on the streets of Oakland, California, has gone viral.

The Post Millennial’s Andy Ngo tweeted a video Sunday of the hundreds of Black Lives Matter protesters, with some heard chanting the phrase in a video that’s been viewed more than 2 million times.

“This wasn’t widely reported. On Wednesday night, around 700 black bloc militants and their supporters rampaged through Oakland, Cal. They chanted “death to America” while starting fires and smashing cars and buildings,” Ngo wrote.

The crowd of people also threw projectiles at police officers, lit fires, and vandalized buildings, according to police. No officers were injured Wednesday evening, and “several” people were arrested.

“600-700 people took part in violent & destructive protests Wed. night. numerous fires set, dozens of windows broken, multiple businesses vandalized. Protesters threw objects at officers, thankfully no officers were injured. Several people arrested,” the police said.

The phrase “Death to America” primarily has its roots in Iran, with Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini popularizing the chant after he took control of the country in 1979.

The protest in Oakland comes after the shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin, last weekend, which has sparked more civil unrest in a summer marked by repeated nights of violence and demonstrations.
