Trump lashes out at 60 Minutes and ‘creep’ coronavirus whistleblower Rick Bright

President Trump objected on Sunday to a 60 Minutes interview with the ousted director of a federal vaccine agency while complaining that whistleblowers are “causing great injustice and harm” to the country.

CBS News’s Norah O’Donnell interviewed Rick Bright, who testified before the House last week that the Trump administration’s response to the coronavirus pandemic was slow. The former director of the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority filed a whistleblower complaint that said he was demoted last month after raising concerns about a drug touted by Trump as a possible cure for the virus.

“We don’t yet have a national strategy to respond fully to this pandemic,” Bright said in the interview. “The best scientists that we have in our government, who are working really hard to try to figure this out aren’t getting that clear, cohesive leadership, strategic plan message yet. Until they get that, it’s still going to be chaotic.”

After apparently watching the interview, Trump lashed out at O’Donnell, suggesting that a CBS executive fire her, called Bright “a creep,” and said, “This whole Whistleblower racket needs to be looked at very closely.”
