Daughter of Jeffrey Epstein friend, Prince Andrew, to marry Italian property developer

The daughter of Prince Andrew the Duke of York, Princess Beatrice, is set to be married to Italian property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

“I’m so excited to announce my engagement to Edo,” Princess Beatrice said on Twitter, along with an official engagement announcement from Buckingham Palace.

Beatrice, 31, is the elder daughter of Andrew, the third child of Queen Elizabeth II, and Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York. Ferguson divorced Andrew in 1996 and has since become an author, film producer, and spokesperson.

Andrew, 59, has recently come under fire for his past relationship with the late Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced philanthropist accused of sex trafficking and assaulting underage girls over the period of several years. Andrew is accused of being a member of Epstein’s inner-circle and being an active participant in the abuse of girls in the early 2000s and beyond. Epstein died by suicide in prison while awaiting trial this summer.

One woman who claims she was abused by Epstein and his friends while she was a teen, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, has consistently claimed Andrew was a big part of the abuse. “He knows exactly what he’s done,” Giuffre said in August. “And I hope he comes clean about it.”

Andrew acknowledged knowing Epstein but has characterized their dealings as brief and without malfeasance. “At no stage during the limited time I spent with him did I see, witness, or suspect any behavior of the sort that subsequently led to his arrest and conviction,” the Duke of York said in response to accusations this summer. His claims seem, however, to contradict evidence that the prince and Epstein were friends for over two decades and often traveled together.

Beatrice’s beau, “Edo,” 36, serves as CEO for property firm Banda, which he founded in 2007. He has a 2-year-old son from a previous relationship and is the son of Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi. Andrew is expected to walk Beatrice down the aisle on her wedding day, despite the allegations against him.
