An incident where a man allegedly verbally attacked and assaulted a 16-year-old Trump supporter at Whataburger on Tuesday is being investigated by Texas police.
Hunter Richard said the man ripped off his “Make America Great Again” hat while he was dining at the fast-food chain, taking some of his hair with it, and proceeded to throw a drink in his face, which was caught on camera, before leaving the restaurant with his hat.
“I support my president and if you don’t let’s have a conversation about it instead of ripping my hat off,” Richard told News 4 in San Antonio, Texas. “I just think a conversation about politics is more productive for the entire whole rather than taking my hat and yelling subjective words to me.”
Hunter captured the moment where the man threw a drink in his face and walked off with his MAGA hat in a video that has since gone viral and garnered over two million views.

A police report has been filed, and Richard said the assault where his hat was stolen was unprovoked.
“We were shocked to see this video and certainly don’t condone this type of customer behavior in our restaurants,” Whataburger corporate communications told the Washington Examiner. “To be clear, no Whataburger employees were involved or witnessed the incident, and we ask that questions be directed to San Antonio PD as we continue supporting their efforts.”
