The man who was filmed being beaten by a mob in Portland, Oregon, until he was unconscious has been identified.
Jorge Ventura, a Daily Caller reporter who witnessed the event, joined Fox & Friends on Tuesday morning and recounted the violence he saw in Portland this weekend, and he confirmed the victim of the brutal attack is named Adam Haner.
“I actually arrived on scene moments after the vehicle crashed. So as soon as I arrived on the scene, the mob pulled out the victim. The victim’s name is Adam Haner. That was confirmed by his brother Brian Haner, who has now launched a GoFundMe to pay for his medical expenses,” he said. “He did not fight back. Several men punched Adam in the face. He actually hit the ground. When he hit the ground, a female then kicked him in the back of the head, and then we saw a suspect with a vest that said ‘security’ kick him in the head, and that sent Adam unconscious,” Ventura said.
“Even then, they continued to attack Adam as he was clearly unconscious. It was very tough to see it in person,” he added.
A GoFundMe page was established by Brian Haner on Tuesday for his brother’s medical expenses, repairs to his pick-up truck, among other expenses.
“Adam Haner’s is my little brother. He’s living in Portland, I was right across the river from him in Vancouver WA before I moved. Hoping this money will help Adam get things together for his life after the attack he suffered. I know he will need repairs, or to replace the truck that was wrecked. He is going to need time to recover from his injuries as well. Plus replace things that where stolen from his pick-up that night, on Aug 16th. which happens to be my birthday,” Brain Haner wrote on the page.
“He would give the shirt off his back to help any of the people around him, and he really didn’t deserve what happened to him in Portland. I’ll supply updates here as I can, and may update the ‘story’ on the GFM to better detail how this will all get handled,” he added.
Social media posts from Sunday night show a mob of people attacking the victim as he stood outside his white truck.
“He didn’t do nothing!” someone is heard saying during the video as the man was kicked and punched.
Haner was able to get in his car and speed off before hitting a light pole. He was then dragged from his truck as he pleaded for the violence to end.
The mob was comprised of Black Lives Matter and antifa activists, the New York Post reported.
“I was trying to get out the way,” he said after the crash.
The crowd then began leaving the scene, but one attacker returned, kicking Haner in the head and causing him to lose consciousness.
Police are currently investigating the incident and said they encountered a “hostile crowd” when responding to a call that “protesters were chasing the truck before it crashed, and they assaulted the driver after the crash.”
The GoFundMe page has already raised more than $15,000 as of Tuesday morning.
