US, UK open criminal investigations against Kevin Spacey after 30 accusers come forward

More than 30 men have accused actor Kevin Spacey of sexual misconduct and prompted both U.S. and English government officials to open criminal investigations into the charges, according to multiple reports published Thursday.

The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department announced this week it began investigating in December a separate allegation of an incident with an adult man in West Hollywood in 1992.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday the sheriff’s department handed them the case on April 5.

The statute of limitations in California is 10 years, but the prosecutor’s office was reported as still working on the case.

British investigators are looking into charges that Spacey sexually assaulted three men in London in more recent years: 2005 to 2008.

The Old Vic theater in London said 20 men people have issued “personal testimonies” against Spacey since the first allegation was made last fall.

Actor Anthony Rapp was the first person to accuse Spacey of improper conduct. Rapp said Spacey made sexual advances toward him in 1986, when Rapp was 14 years old and Spacey was 26.

Spacey was immediately removed from Netflix’s “House of Cards” show and has kept a low profile over the past six months. He has repeatedly denied allegations of sexual misconduct.
