[WATCH] Jon Stewart bashes Dianne Feinstein for hypocrisy on spying programs

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) has no problem defending the National Security Agency’s spying on American citizens. But the Central Intelligence Agency hacking into her very own computer is inexcusable — and hypocritical — according to Comedy Central host Jon Stewart.

On “The Daily Show” on Wednesday night, Stewart tore into the Senate Intelligence Committee head for her hypocrisy regarding spying techniques exercised by the government’s spy agencies, including the CIA and NSA.

“What’s incredible about these accusations is they’re not coming from Senator Ron ‘Oh, privacy is important’ Wyden or Senator Rand ‘Ah, don’t kill me with a flying robot’ Paul. They’re coming from Dianne ‘So the NSA is looking at your data?’ Feinstein,” Stewart said.

“The Daily Show” host then flashed to a montage of clips featuring Feinstein touting the NSA’s surveillance programs — that spy on American citizens — as both legal and crucial to national security. But Stewart noted that her outrage, which stemmed from recent revelations surrounding the CIA and Senate Intelligence Committee, only pertains to violations of her own right to privacy.

“See, she doesn’t mind if our security apparatus might be looking at your stuff because your stuff is s**t,” Stewart said. “But her s**t is stuff.”

Feinstein spoke on the Senate floor earlier this week about the CIA hacking into computers used by her committee and argued that such an act violates not only the United States Constitution, but also the Fourth Amendment, the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, and Executive Order 12333, which was issued by President Ronald Reagan in 1981.

The California Democrat accused the CIA of searching computers used by the Senate Intelligence Committee and removing documents that contained damning evidence of the use of enhanced interrogation techniques on terrorism suspects.

Feinstein’s accusations come as the Senate Intelligence Committee prepares to release the results of a multi-year investigation into the post-Sept. 11 interrogation program.
