'Democrat lies': Giuliani demands apology from GOP lawyer over impeachment questioning

President Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani attacked the lawyer for House Intelligence Committee Republicans because of his questions to an impeachment hearing witness.

Steve Castor, the Republican counsel, mentioned Giuliani’s “business interests” while questioning U.S. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland on Wednesday about Trump’s conduct toward Ukraine.

“Granted, Mr. Giuliani had business interests in Ukraine, correct?” Castor asked.

“Now, I understand he did. I didn’t know that at the time,” Sondland responded.

“With Messrs, Parnas, and Fruman. Correct?” Castor said.

Giuliani demanded an apology from Castor and accused him of being ill-prepared for the hearing.

“Republican lawyer doesn’t do his own research and preparation, and is instead picking up Democrat lies, shame,” Giuliani tweeted. “Allow me to inform him: I have NO financial interests in Ukraine, NONE! I would appreciate his apology.”

Federal prosecutors in New York are investigating the business dealings of Giuliani, including whether he failed to register as a foreign agent, and whether he stood to profit from a proposed pipeline project in Ukraine.

Two of his associates, Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, were arrested last month on charges of illegal campaign contributions. Both men allegedly lobbied Ukrainian government officials to back the proposed pipeline, while also partaking in Giuliani’s efforts to pressure Ukraine to launch an investigation into Democratic presidential contender Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden.
