Shaq gives California’s first lady a ‘lift’

The most recent minority-stake owner of the NBA’s Sacramento Kings, Shaquille O’Neal, gave California’s first lady a lift Monday — just not in a car.

Anne Gust Brown, the wife of Governor Jerry Brown, posted a photo on Twitter that showed Shaq hoisting her above his seven foot one inch frame. The former All-Star big man was all-smiles — and apparently Brown was, as well.

O’Neal certainly will appreciate the lightheartedness, as he was once a nemesis of his new team. During his time as a Los Angeles Laker, Shaq, typical of his skilled trash-talking and wordplaying style, referred to the Sacramento team as the “Sacramento Queens”. He plans to mend fences over the old rivalry, and if Monday’s incident is any indication, his trademark humor will be a key role player.

“I apologize,” O’Neal stated during a Tuesday press conference. “If you see me around town, come give me a hug, give me a kiss. I’ll do whatever you want.”
