Even in the Capitol, things can get a bit heated over the Redskins-Cowboys rivalry. Following Dallas’ devastating defeat of the Redskins on Sunday night, a large Cowboys blanket was hung on the door of House Clerk Lorraine Miller.
This wouldn’t be significant, but for that fact that Miller’s door lies directly across the hall in the Capitol from House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, who lives in the Maryland suburbs and is a huge Redskins fan.
Not that Miller doesn’t have reason to be proud: She’s a native of Fort Worth, Texas, and once worked for House Speaker Jim Wright, D-Texas.
But Hoyer rolled with it, even spinning the situation into a clever political quip. “Despite the banner outside the clerk’s office, the era of cowboys in Washington is nearing an end,” he told us.
