White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and National Security Council spokesman John Kirby are holding a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.
The briefing comes after Biden visited South Carolina on Monday and spoke at Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, the site of the 2015 anti-black mass shooting. During his campaign speech, pro-ceasefire protesters interrupted Biden by calling for the end to the war between Hamas and Israel in Gaza.
Supporters of the president drowned out the protesters’ yells, chanting, “Four more years,” and one woman told Biden, “You’re a good man.”
Biden was blasted by South Carolina Republicans for using the site of a mass shooting to have a conversation on extremism, with lawmakers accusing the president of stoking racial fears.

The president’s visit to South Carolina signaled that his campaign is working to earn back support from black voters who helped Biden win the White House in 2020 but have since trended away from him.
The press briefing will begin at 3 p.m.
