In a cringe-inducing moment during the 2012 presidential debates, Republican candidate Gov. Rick Perry, R-Texas, failed to remember the names of the three government departments he wanted to eliminate.
“Commerce, Education….And the uh, what’s the third one there?” said Perry, scratching his head.
He turned to fellow candidate Ron Paul for help, who responded “you need five” departments before volunteering, “EPA?”
“EPA there ya go,” said Perry, laughing nervously with Paul.
“Seriously? Is EPA the one you were talking about?” asked the debate moderator.
“The third agency of government I would — I would do away with, Education, the…Commerce and, let’s see. I can’t. The third one, I can’t. Sorry. Oops,” said Perry.
