Food stamps: February SNAP payments worth up to $1,751 in Iowa wrap up in four days

Iowa residents will collect payments from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program for the next four days before the program wraps up for February.

In the Hawkeye State, the average payment per household member per month is $170. Approximately 9% of the population, or 278,800 people, receives food stamps in Iowa.

Iowa sends SNAP payments to recipients from the 1st through the 10th of every month. Food stamps will arrive based on the first letter of the household’s last name.

Households with last names starting with A through O should have received food stamp payments by Tuesday. Those with last names starting with P through Z should collect SNAP benefits over the next four days.

Households with last names starting with P, Q, and R will receive payments on Feb. 7. Households with last names starting with S will receive payments on Feb. 8, households with last names starting with T, U, and V will receive payments on Feb. 9, and households with last names starting with W, X, Y, or Z will collect on Feb. 10.

The maximum payment is $291 for a household of one, $1,155 for a household of five, and $1,751 for a household of eight. For each household member above eight, $219 is added.
