Prince William and Kate Middleton have settled on a name for their new royal baby girl, but their choice could impact Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge named their newborn daughter Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, according to ABC News.
The baby will therefore share a first name with Chelsea Clinton’s daughter, Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky.
Sharing a name with a royal wouldn’t be a problem for anyone but a member of the Clinton clan, as opponents of Hillary Clinton have been endlessly — and rather successfully — trying to cast her as an unofficial royal among America’s political elite.
Undoubtedly, the Clintons will now have to battle comparisons of baby Charlotte to her ancestrally-blessed companion in England, whose official title is Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Cambridge.
Perhaps the Duke and Duchess merely want Hillary Clinton’s path to the Democratic nomination for president to be less of the coronation that many have deemed it.
The New York Post was right: Charlotte may just be Hillary’s “party pooper.”
