Ron Paul’s Dirty Money

I see I’m not the only one who thought this, from a Daniel Sieradski post at the new Jewcy blog, was a devastating line:

Ron Paul will take money from Nazis. But he won’t take telephone calls from Jews.

Interesting though, that Paul’s strange ability to attract the dregs of America’s right-wing lunatic fringe to his candidacy has in no way dampened the enthusiasm of his number one supporter, Andrew Sullivan. Sullivan has spent the last few weeks gushing about the “genius of the Ron Paul campaign” and it’s “classic” list of donors. Andrew, are you not troubled at all by the creeps who’ve signed on to the Paul campaign, or the fact that he is so completely unperturbed by their support that he has yet to distance himself in any way from it? Maybe not–Sullivan’s “simple message” to Ron Paul supporters: “You’re welcome here.” That includes the Nazis, or no? Update: I can’t read Sulivan’s posts as fast as he writes them, but it looks as though he’s already responded to Jamie Kirchick, labeling the charge a “smear.” Kirchick fires back:

Andrew has been Ron Paul’s biggest booster on the blogosphere. He should explain why Ron Paul’s unapologetic acceptance of money and support from neo-Nazis does not disturb him. And the next time he’s tempted to label Rudy Giuliani a “fascist,” perhaps he should pause and consider who actual, self-described fascists are supporting for president.
