Last thoughts from RFK

I‘m never good at doing one last post before I bolt from RFK, so I’ll make this quick.

First, here’s my game story from the 2-1 D.C. United victory.

Some things that will keep me from sleeping tonight:

1. DCU is tied for first place in the Eastern Conference.

2. Jaime Moreno stole the show, even in the first half. His passing was crisp, he was tough, composed, involved. Sharp. (That said, he was WIDE open on both his goals. How does a defense forget about him? Seriously?)

3. Christian Gómez was superb in his role as second-half sub.

4. Speaking of which, DCU gaffer Tom Soehn went for the win, putting in Gómez right after Moreno’s goal.

5. Milos Kocic was punch-crazy in goal, but he said it was because he was getting fouled a ton, particularly by Kenny Cooper. I don’t have the highlight, but at one point Kocic delivered an upper cut to a loose ball. I’ve never seen that before.

6. Should Schellas Hyndman’s job be in jeopardy?

7. Attendance at RFK was under 15,000 again on a perfect night. Averaging 14,289 after four games, it’s going to be darn hard for DCU to get anywhere near its average from the last two years (20,000+ in 2007, just under that last year). Just saying.
