Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), the 2024 Republican vice presidential nominee, left a voicemail for Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) Tuesday congratulating him on being selected to be Vice President Kamala Harris‘ running mate.
Harris similarly called Vance but was forced to leave a voicemail when former President Donald Trump tapped the junior senator from Ohio when Trump announced his pick back on the first day of the 2024 Republican National Convention.
“I left a voicemail,” Vance told reporters traveling with him on the campaign trail Tuesday. “I didn’t get him, but I just said, ‘Look, congratulations, looking forward to robust conversation and enjoy the ride.’ And maybe he’ll call me back, maybe he won’t.”
