Take 5 for Sept. 2 to 4

Spooky Movie Film Festival Summer Series Double Feature at Artisphere, Saturday One needs not wait for Halloween to watch great horror films. This Saturday at Artisphere in Rosslyn, check out the double feature of “Murder Loves Killers Too” and “The Uh-Oh! Show.” The screenings wrap up the Spooky Movie Film Festival Summer Series.

“I hesitate to say it’s a best-of, but they’re some of the most popular shows,” said Spooky Movie Film Fest creator Curtis Prather.

“The Uh-Oh! Show,” about a game show where losing can be deadly, made its debut at the Spooky Movie Film Fest and is directed by legendary horror film maker Herschell Gordon Lewis.

“He pretty much created the whole splatter genre,” Prather said.

“Murder Loves Killers Too” was screened at the festival two years ago, and is in the classic ’80s-style, where a group of teenagers go somewhere remote and are terrorized by a killer.

“That film is so much fun,” Prather said. “The ending is so satisfying.”

The Spooky Movie International Horror Film Festival is Oct. 13-16, and this is the first year the event will be held at Artipshere, The summer series is a way for the festival to get the world out about it’s new home and to build anticipation for the main event.

“It’s an opportunity to raise awareness,” Prather said.
