This afternoon, 240 members of the House — 233 Democrats and 7 Republicans — voted to scold Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., for his outburst during President Obama’s address last Wednesday. Twelve Democrats and 167 Republicans voted against rebuking Wilson, and five Democrats voted “present.”
Update: Rep. Roscoe Bartlett, R-Md., explained his “no” vote in these terms:
“I spoke to three reporters after the President’s speech – none of them knew what bill the President was talking about during his speech. If the President was talking about the House bill, then Rep. Wilson’s comment was accurate, though impolite.”
