Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is scheduling the Florida legislature into a special session a week after President-elect Donald Trump is sworn into office to help work with the incoming administration to accomplish its immigration goals.

Trump will be sworn in on Jan. 20, with plans for several executive orders and expected deportations of criminal illegal immigrants. DeSantis said at a Monday press conference that the state needs to “act quickly” after Trump takes office to help him enact his policies, noting that the president-elect “has a mandate.”
