The Estelle music the DJ spun from the backyard of Jaci and Morris Reid’s home was a sneak peek of what to expect this fall as BGR Group, Elle magazine and Louis Vuitton are set to host the preeminent party clashing politics, fashion and, yes, hip-hop.
Morris Reid, who is managing director for BGR Group, and his wife hosted a fashion-forward cocktail party Tuesday night for special guests, Editor in Chief of Elle Magazine Robbie Myers and Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communication for Louis Vuitton North America Heather Vandenberghe. But what many in attendance didn’t realize — as they were content with washing down their sushi and Georgetown cupcakes with Moet and Chandon champagne — was the cocktail party served as sort of a run-through for the Oct. 15 bash at BGR Group Chairman Ed Rogers’ house.
Reid exclusively informed Yeas & Nays that Myers and Vandenberghe are in town this week to scout the location of the fall event and meet some of Washington’s movers and shakers before what is sure to be Washington’s biggest fashion party — complete with performances by singer Estelle and coverage in Elle.
Some of the fashionable guests in attendance we can expect to see again in October — many of whom couldn’t stop gushing over Vandenberghe’s fuchsia and black quilted plush Vuitton clutch with gold studs, not due out for two weeks — included premier event planner Andre Wells, WUSA-TV’s Angie Goff, The Washington Post’s Robin Givhan, BET’s Jeff Johnson, Chicago Sun-Times’ Lynn Sweet, NBC’s Norah O’Donnell, Blonde Charity Mafia’s Katherine Kennedy and KStreetKate’s Kate Michael.
