During Saturday night’s GOP debate, Donald Trump received boos from the (possibly stacked) audience after his comments on 9/11 and President George W. Bush.
During the usual GOP debate feud between Jeb Bush and Trump, Trump went after President Bush, and argued that he didn’t keep the country safe. In between comments that “she should be running” when referring to Barbara Bush, Trump also made these comments:
[Boos]
That’s not keeping us safe.
The moderator John Dickerson intervened by practically begging John Kasich to say something. When Marco Rubio also cut in, to proclaim that he was happier Bush was in office and not Al Gore, and defended the president, Trump jabbed at him as well:
RUBIO: The World Trade Center came down because Bill Clinton didn’t kill Osama bin Laden when he had the chance to kill him.
[Applause]
TRUMP: And George Bush– by the way, George Bush had the chance, also, and he didn’t listen to the advice of his CIA.
[Boos]
Dickerson just barely regained control of the debate but moving onto a question for Ben Carson, though not before Jeb rescinded his invitation to Trump to appear at a S.C. rally where President Bush would be speaking. Trump answered “I don’t want to go.”
