United’s Brian Carroll and Bobby Boswell share their thoughts on the action in Germany
What’s been your favorite goal?
Recommended Stories
Brian Carroll: It would probably have to be [German midfielder Torsten] Frings’s effort against Costa Rica. That was a great goal to see happen, a strike from 35 yards out. Germany’s goal to beat Poland also was pretty exciting.
Bobby Boswell: There’s been a bunch of bombs, but I like Frings’ goal.
Who’s your favorite television announcer?
BC: I like hearing John Harkes. I think he keeps the game commentary flowing without saying any bogus, weird comments. And everybody likes to hear Tommy Smyth’s voice whether or not you agree with what he’s saying.
BB: I like Tommy Smyth and Harksey. It’s kind of a weird thing because we know some of the guys and then they make comments that are a little outlandish and outrageous. We’ll give those guys a hard time when we see them next.
Is there general agreement in the locker room that Czech midfielder Pavel Nedved looks like Patrick Swayze in “Point Break”?
BB: There’s been a couple comments like that. He definitely has that look going on, but he’s a good player. I like him a lot.
Who’s been the best player so far?
BC: It’s kind of hard not to pick Tomas Rosicky with the goals he had, but I’m not going to because it was against the U.S. [Brazil midfielder] Kaka’s strike was pretty cool. I like the way he’s been playing with some of his other teammatesnot picking up the slack.
