SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Nationally recognized poets will perform their works in Springfield in a series of “Poets in the Parlor” events this fall.

The appearances will be at two state historic sites — the home of “Abraham Lincoln Walks at Midnight” author Vachel (VAY-chil) Lindsay and the Old State Capitol.

The 2 p.m. appearances at the Lindsay home include Sarah Henning on Aug. 17; Adam Clay and Ada Limon on Sept. 21; Jim Moore on Nov. 9; and an open-microphone event Dec. 14 for Springfield-area authors.

There are 11 spots open for the open-microphone event. Participants will be chosen at random from a fishbowl of names and have a five-minute limit.

Roger Reeves will appear at 7 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Old State Capitol.
