Teens seriously injured in Rockville scooter crash

The driver of a Mercedes, who allegedly fled the scene after crashing into a scooter and seriously injuring two teens in Rockville, has turned himself in, Montgomery County police said. Police found Mario Hernandez and his passenger, Noel Mendoza, badly hurt on the 12700 block of Veirs Mills Road early Monday morning. Mendoza, 16, was in critical condition and Hernandez,19, was in serious condition at an area hospital Monday evening.

The driver of the Mercedes briefly stopped at the scene and then drove off. He turned himself in to police around 11 a.m. Monday, was interviewed and released pending the results of the investigation, police said. They did not release his name.
