D.C. stories featured in latest ‘Ripley’s Believe it or Not!’ book

Just when you thought you’ve heard all of the strange and unbelievable stories out of Washington, “Ripley’s Believe it or Not!” features a few new ones in its latest book, “Enter If You Dare.”

The book mentions Bonnie, the 32-year-old whistling orangutan at the National Zoo and Washington Senators (you know, that baseball team from way before the Nationals) pitcher Bert Sherpard who played for the team despite losing his leg in World War II.

But our favorite?

The story of Brian Peterkin-Vertanesia, who boasts a single eyebrow hair that measures 6 3/8 inches long. The hair, which he says he keeps tucked behind his ear for safety, is named … Wally.

Yikes.
