Luck of the Irish: St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Saturday, making for plenty of revelry

St. Patrick’s Day is on a Saturday this year, promising for one epic weekend. Here are a few suggestions of where to go for drinks, food, music and revelry this March 17. Just remember to wear green.

Cap City Brewing Co.

This isn’t an Irish bar, but Cap City is offering two new casks: an Irish Red Ale and an Irish Dry Stout for just $4 per pint. The Shirlington location will feature a $20 all-you-can-eat Irish food buffet with corned beef & cabbage and shepherd’s pie. The buffet price includes two drink tickets. Downtown will also offer Irish fare. Downtown from 11 a.m. to close, Shirlington from 5 to 9 p.m. capcitybrew.com.

<span style=”font-size:14px;font-weight:bold; class=” briefshedodd”=””>SoberRide for St. Patty’s

The Washington Regional Alcohol Program will offer free cab rides to St. Patrick’s Day revelers who’ve had a little too much green beer to drive themselves home safely.

The SoberRide program will be available beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday, St. Patrick’s Day, and continue until 6 a.m. Sunday morning. Drivers 21 and up can call SoberRide at 800-200-TAXI (8294) during the 12-hour period for a free cab ride whose fare would be worth up to $30. In 2011, 547 people used the program.
Cab rides will be available in the District, Montgomery and Prince George’s counties in Maryland, and Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William counties in Virginia.
