VIDEO: John Kerry testifies on Capitol Hill on strategy to defeat the Islamic State

Secretary of State John Kerry testified in front of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations Wednesday afternoon on the United States’ strategy to defeat the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. “ISIL must be defeated. Period. End of Story,” Kerry testified in front of the Congress.

Echoing much of what President Obama said earlier in the day at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Fla., Kerry emphasized the fact that U.S. ground troops will not be sent into combat in Iraq.

Speaking loudly over a group a protestors in the background, Kerry reassured Congress that the plan to destroy the Islamic State has been well thought out.

“We do have a clear strategy to degrade, defeat and ultimately destroy ISIL and it’s not in its infancy.”

Kerry said that in addition to the military campaign, it’s equally important for the coalition working to defeat the Islamic State to dry up the militant group’s illicit funding.
