Shanahan/Allen: ‘It’s a perfect marriage’

If the Redskins land another high pick — perhaps a second-rounder for defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth — ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay says he knows what they should do. Look for someone to replace … Haynesworth.

But he can also see Washington doing just about anything. Yes, he knows they need a tackle. But he also knows general manager Bruce Allen well. Though Mike Shanahan is running the show, Allen is adept at maneuvering picks.

“Something tells me they’ll be the first team to shake things up before it’s all said and done,” McShay said.

His opinion is that Washington’s continuation of quarterback workouts with potential high picks is more about the team doing its due diligence than anything else.

Or is it?

“Bruce loves to get the mind games going,” McShay said. “He’s the king of it.”

He does like the Shanahan/Allen pairing.

“They have a chance to work really well together,” he said. “It’s a perfect marriage.”
