Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) has fallen victim to the latest political plague: White House Ballroom Construction Derangement Syndrome.
As I introduced last week, WHBCDS is “the condition predicated on an irrational and overly emotional response to the president renovating an 80-year-old section of the White House to create a luxurious new ballroom, using private contributions to fund the changes.” It’s affected prominent politicos on the Left, from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to the entire workforce of MSNBC. And now Swalwell is the latest victim.
Swalwell, who, in August, was caught lying about crime rates in Washington, D.C., after President Donald Trump ordered the deployment of the National Guard in the city, revealed his symptoms of WHBCDS on Saturday in a post on social media. He is apparently suffering from a particularly aggressive strain of the mental abnormality, as the far-Left California congressman mandated that any Democrat considering running for president in 2028 must make destroying the ballroom Trump an integral part of their candidacy’s platform.
“Don’t even think of seeking the Democratic nomination for president unless you pledge to take a wrecking ball to the Trump Ballroom on DAY ONE,” Swalwell warned on X.
A particularly troubling sign about Swalwell’s condition was the time of his post. It did not happen during the work day or after a session in Congress. He posted it on a Saturday night, shortly before 11 p.m., indicating an almost obsessive nature about his thoughts, which are currently dominated by Trump’s ballroom. After all, most people are either sleeping or enjoying a leisurely social activity at that time, whereas the California Democrat was obsessively dwelling on a possible presidential candidacy three years into the future over a construction project ordered by the president of the United States in the present day.
Furthermore, Swalwell followed up with his post, adding an addendum to his 2028 Democratic candidacy requirements, and did so about 15 hours later, further indicating his obsession with the topic. He offered an alternative to destroying a perfectly fine, recently constructed White House ballroom, suggesting a renaming of it — even though it currently does not have a name — to the Barack Obama Ballroom.
“***Or, as @RubenGallego proposes, rename it the Barack Obama Ballroom,” Swalwell said in his post. “But a Trump monument to corruption will not stand.”
Trump’s monument to corruption? It’s a ballroom, a venue the government will use to host events at the White House for generations to come. As with Democrats’ responses from last week, Swalwell’s fanatical tantrums are utterly absurd.
It doesn’t take a medical professional to know this is not normal behavior and should raise red flags. Swalwell, along with scores of liberals, Democrats, and others on the Left, is unwell.
Yet Swalwell’s WHBCDS offers insights into the political Left’s unhinged obsessions. Their ire goes beyond the games and schenanigans associated with politics. They have demonstrated a complete intolerance for anything that challenges their ideologies or beliefs. And they have a sheer disdain for millions of Americans, approximately half of the country’s voting population, solely predicated on their support for the president.
INTRODUCING WHITE HOUSE BALLROOM CONSTRUCTION DERANGEMENT SYNDROME
One would never know it over the chorus of hysterics perpetuated by Democrats, but numerous additions and reconstructions have happened to the White House over the years. Presidents from both parties have authorized changes, additions, subtractions, and other construction projects. Never was there the kind of petulant sulking that Democrats exhibited last week.
They have shown time and again that they are unhinged. WHBCDS is just the latest example of their mental instability.
