Authorities to resume search Monday for missing swimmer

The search for a swimmer who disappeared and is suspected of drowning in the Tridelphia Reservoir near Route 97 in Brookeville has been suspended until Monday, according to the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission.

According to Sandy Spring Fire Chief George Brown, Bruce Yansen, 21, and two other swimmers were in an area of the reservoir where the bottom suddenly dropped off and the water became deeper. Yansen then panicked, and another swimmer unsuccessfully tried to save him.

All WSSC recreation areas are open as normal Sunday and Monday. Swimming is prohibited in WSSC reservoirs.
