The original Dr. Feelgood
Urologist Dr. Robert D. Crouch has been alive for 83 years, but he probably never managed to crash an airplane and get busted on sex and drug charges in a two-day span until last weekend.
On Saturday, the Frederick doctor escaped injury when the plane that he was piloting crash-landed on its belly in Ocean City.
Things really took a nose dive from there.
A day later, in an unrelated matter, Frederick police arrested Crouch on sex assault and marijuana charges after his roommate, a college student, complained to police that he tried to grope her. Crouch allegedly grabbed the woman after she complained that his porn-watching was interfering with her studies. “I’m a doctor,” he allegedly told her. “I know what you need.”

With gas prices these days, who’s robbing whom?
A regular customer at an Ocala, Fla., gas station robbed the business, even though employees easily recognized her.
Leila Ann Shoukry, 27, came into the store Tuesday evening and filled out a Western Union order form. Several minutes later, she warned the clerk that she had a gun and took $40 from the register.
The store’s owner was able to identify Shoukry because he had a copy of her photo identification card. The copy was made when she had a paycheck cashed during a previous visit.

Last call for alcohol
Holding hostages is sweaty work.
A 33-year-old Illinois man who allegedly used a knife to hold five people hostage in a hotel room began to get thirsty.
After a while, he sent two of his hostages out for beer. After the hostages left, they called police, and the man was arrested without incident.

Keep your hands on 10 and 2
A driving instructor accused of exposing himself to five students said Tuesday it was all an accident.
David Zitcovich, of York, S.C., is charged with indecent exposure after five teenage girls told police he exposed himself to each of them in his car during a lesson.
Zitcovich claims he wears loose-fitting shorts and the exposure was not intentional. Several of the teens said Zitcovich asked them sexual questions. One student said that Zitcovich played a form of strip poker with her in which she would have to take off articles of clothing if she messed up on a driving maneuver.

Insult to injury
A Chicago robber who planned to hold up a South Side convenience store was in police custody after officials said he shot himself in the foot and was then stabbed by the store’s owner.
During a struggle with the store’s 24-year-old employee, the robber’s gun went off, striking his own foot. The 61-year-old store owner then wounded the robber by stabbing him in the back, the paper said.
The robbers fled the scene, but the injured man was arrested while trying to obtain treatment at a local hospital.
